The sensation created by PNB (Punjab National Bank) scam case went further. The CBI has issued summons to top private bankers in this case. ICICI Bank Chairman Chanda Kochhar along with Axis Bank MD Shikha Sharma. On the other hand, the CBI has already arrested 16 people in this case. The CBI officials have detained another key person in connection with the scam involving the National Bank of Punjab. The CBI today questioned Vipul Chitalia, Vice President of Banking Operations, Geetanjali Group.
Vipul, who had arrived in Mumbai for the PNB Mega scam, was taken to the CBI office directly and questioned. Allegedly, the alleged involvement of a prominent diamond merchant Nirav Modi and his uncle Geetanjali Group chairman Mehul Choxi was involved in a huge fraud in the Rs 13,000 crore fraud. Already, Modi and Mehel have been abducted. With the key employees of the two companies, the PNB Bank is investigating several senior officers in custody. If this happens, ICICI Bank MD and CEO Chanda Kochhar and Axis Bank MD Shikha Sharma have issued summons to the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO).
