The GHMC has decided to take steps to make muds for Ganesh Chaturthi in Greater Hyderabad.It is estimated that in the city of Hyderabad city the museum idols made of plaster of Paris, which is above five lakhs above five feet.But city mayor Bondu Rammohan and Commissioner Dr.B.Janardhana Reddy have been intensifying efforts to promote idols made of mud, rather than plaster of Paris in Hyderabad city for environmental protection.The JHMC has decided to create awareness on cinematography and molding specifically for the manufacturers of soil idols from Ganesha Chaturthi on September 13 to be held.

The GHMC Commissioner directed the Zonal Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to take up the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Festival, voluntary organizations, residential welfare associations and environmental assistance to identify the idols of the villagers in the city.The Commissioner said that if there are another six months of Ganesh Chaturthi festival, there will be results in doing so since then.Last year, 25 Ganesh Immaculate Ponds have been set up exclusively with a cost of 20.67 crores.Of these, over 13 pools have been immersed in more than 16 thousand huge Ganesh idols during the last immersion.Thus, the immersions of Ganesh idols made of plaster of Paris were partially reduced. Besides, more than two lakh mud idols were distributed free of charge through the GHMC alone.However, Mayor Rammohan said, "We are trying to make mud idols in the post-Vengayaka episode in September 2018.
