The United Nations has made it clear that Andhra Pradesh is second only to West Bengal in the number of women trafficking in the country. About 80 percent of human trafficking in women, with 60 percent of them in minors. About 40 percent of them are sexually exploited. According to NCRB Report - 2010, Andhra Pradesh ranked seventh in women's trafficking in India. In 2017, women's kidnapping has increased by 17.98 percent in the state. The AP Police Annual Report revealed that 665 people in 2016 and 700 were kidnapped in 2017. Among those who have been kidnapped are girls between 12 and 18 years of age. According to police reports, 239 women were killed in 2016 and 271 women were trafficked by 2017. In fact, this number is ten times more likely to be an open secret.
