20 MLAs of the AAP disqualified Presidential approval of the Election Commission proposal

The Election Commission recommends President Ramnath Kovind two days ago to announce 20 MLAs as disqualified for lucrative posts. Presidential nominee Kovind approved the Election Commission's proposal. The majority of the seats in the Dilli Assembly reached 45. In the 70-seat Dilli Assembly, the strength of the AAP is 65. The latest in the assembly has reduced the number of seats in the assembly. The 20-member constituency will have a by-election. Among those disqualified are minister Kailash Gehlot and lawmaker Alka Lamba.

A simple proposal to President Kovind that all 21 MLAs had made profitable positions in the post of parliamentary secretaries from March 13 to September 8, 2016, and resulted in disqualification as legislators. One of the 21 MLAs recently resigned from office. AAP MLAs resorted to Dilie High Court opposing this recommendation. The court hearing their petition refused to give interim orders. The AAP's decision was seriously criticized. It is unconstitutional. But, the decision was welcomed by BJP and Congress.
