WORLD RECOGNITION TO INDIA WITH JAN DHAN

Indian financial institutions have received another rare recognition from the World Bank. World Bank data revealed that 55 percent of bank accounts opened worldwide are available, said Finance Secretary Rajiv Kumar. The World Bank's Global Fundex Report said that the center's launch was a success. Between 2014 and 17, 2014, around 51.4 crore bank accounts were opened, of which 55 percent were opened in India.

The Prime Minister's Jan Dhan Yojana accounts for Rs.31.44 crore as on March 2018, as against Rs 28.17 crore in the previous year. The bank accounts for 35 percent of 2011, 53 percent in 2014 and 80 percent by 2017. As per the information provided by the Union Finance Ministry, Rs. 80,545.70 crore is deposited in these accounts as on April 11, 2018. These accounts are largely promoted after the annulment of large banknotes. The deposits in these accounts are steadily increasing since March 2017.
