Telangana Government is working hard to increase water resources in the state. Drinking-irrigation is taking action without shortage. As part of this program, 20 per cent of the population is expected to revive all the ponds in Adilabad district in five years. This scheme has already come into force four years ago. But the progress of this project, which has been brought by the government with good intentions, is not at all remarkable. There are comments that water resources in Adilabad are not aspirational as they are. Officials have decided to identify and develop over 7,000 ponds across the joint district. The ponds are to be fully developed in five years at a rate of 20 per cent per annum. Remove the straw in the ponds and make other repairs and structures. However, only three phases have been completed so far. The fourth phase of the work is being sanctioned. Yet half of the half of the work is incomplete and the locals say. Even if the works are completed in the fifth stage, half of the ponds are suspected of repairs.

In the first phase, officials have decided to develop 548 ponds across the district. The government has sanctioned Rs 222 crores to provide irrigation to 65116 acres. In the second phase 478 ponds have been given administrative sanctions. Development of ponds with Rs. 186 crores. Aims to provide irrigation to 55421 acres. But so far only 466 ponds have begun. The third installment in the last year is still going on. With the intention of watering the ponds, only 252 ponds were undertaken. We have to spend 26882 acres with a cost of Rs.100 crores. But 248 ponds started. Of these, only 125 ponds have been completed. In addition to the construction of new ponds, the ponds sanctioned in four installations should be completed by March next year. Then the fifth stage starts. On the other hand, there are suspicions about the fifth step. Because the elections are approaching. Local bodies will be held this year. There will be general elections next year. If the election notification is released before the fifth phase of work, it will not be possible to do these tasks. All these things are being put forward in view of renovation and repairing of ponds.
